UC Santa Barbara has more than 400 buildings which collectively account for over 90% of the campus's total energy use. Through continued efforts in the areas interior and exterior lighting and controls retrofits, HVAC system upgrade and optimization projects, and development of onsite energy generating facilities, the UCSB campus has reduced its overall energy use intensity by more than 19% over the past 10-year period. Much of this work has been funded in part through the UC/CSU/Investor-Owned Utility Statewide Energy Partnership (SEP) Program.
